Adoptions

Upon submission of your application, a Felius Rescue Adoption Coordinator will contact your landlord, vet, and references. You will be contacted once these requirements are verified.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Submitting an application does not guarantee cat availability. We operate on a first-come-first-served basis and do not hold cats.

• Schedule all cat meet-and-greets through your Adoption Coordinator AFTER you are approved.

• Approval of applications is required prior to selecting a specific cat.

• Renters must supply proof that pets are allowed in their home.

In order to be approved to adopt from Felius Rescue, our team will:

• Confirm applicant is at least 19 years old, as an adoption contract is required to be signed if approved.

• Verify that your current resident pets are up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and that they have been altered.

• In addition to the above, we will also confirm any pets that go outside are also on monthly heart worm/parasite preventatives.

• Conduct a home visit (virtual visits available) to ensure a safe environment.

• Contact personal references provided in the application.

• Confirm the applicant is not on the Nebraska "do not adopt list."

• Verify renters' permission to house pets through written approval from the landlord or lease agreement.

We have the right to refuse any adoption we do not feel is in the best interest of the animal(s).

Upon approval, adopters must sign a legal adoption contract, outlining conditions for pet care. If unable to keep the pet(s) in the future, the cat(s) must be returned to Felius Rescue.

Kittens will not be available for adoption until they are at least 12-weeks-old and fully vetted.

• Applications or inquiries about specific kittens will not be accepted until they are available.

• Interested adopters can submit applications and select "Undecided" to join a waitlist for notification when kittens become available.

• Adopters will be considered in the order they are approved and we will not reserve specific kittens for adopters.

Breeds from the following category will be an additional $100 fee on top of the standard age-tiered adoption rate:

• Calico

• Siamese/Siamese mix

• Ragdoll

• Himalayan

• All White

• Blue eyes

• Sphinx

• Maine Coon

• Bengal

• Persian

• Tortoiseshell

Felius offers a 2-week foster-to-adopt trial program for adopters who want to ensure a specific cat will be a good fit for their home and family. There is no obligation to adopt, and we will be there to hold your hand throughout the process.
